What Are Your Wood Fireplace Blower Choices

If you have a fire in your home, it may not be operating as efficiently as it could.  A fireplace is not just something to enjoy looking at.  It should be able to provide additional heat for your room.

You can increase this efficiency by purchasing a wood fireplace blower.

This type of fireplace blower enables you to push or pull the heat from the fire into the room.  There are several ways that you can accomplish this using a blower and fan system.  If you do not have some type of blower system in place, most of the hot air from the fire will go right up the chimney.  You can always use the type of fan unit that is installed in the flue and helps to push hot air out through vents.  These often need to be installed by a fireplace company.  You may need to have vents installed as well as a variety of duct work in order for everything to work properly.

Another style of a wood burning fireplace blower is the type that can be installed either in front of your fire or in a strategic spot in the room.  These are normally purchased in a kit and the kits include the blower, brackets and power cord.  These are intended to help circulate the hot air that the fire produces.  Many times people will install these below or above the fireplace to take advantage of the most heat.  Several top brands include the Lennox FBK series that is priced from $125 to $175.  The price depends on the size and model of your existing fire.  You can also purchase the Napoleon G2 series for $129.99.  Both will need to be placed by a power source in order for the motor to work.  The installation is very easy, as you would just need to mount it on a wall for it to function.

A further type of fan unit is designed to fit where your wood grate would normally be.  For this unit to work, you simply place logs on the aluminized steel.  There is a simple motor that is placed outside of the fireplace and once it is turned on, the burning logs heat the air within the steel tubes.  The air is forced out from the tubes to help to keep the room warm.  This is a very simple way to increase the efficiency of your fireplace.

Anyone that has a fireplace should consider using some type of blower system.  It can help to reduce your overall heating bill, as well as help to keep you warm on those long winter nights.  Most kits require very little energy to run and are very quiet.  It is also very important to keep your fireplace clean and free of debris.  This should include making sure you keep your blower clean as well.  You can enjoy your fire place and begin to enjoy the benefits of having the ability to keep your whole room heated by using a fireplace blower.
